26. William Edward Hulse7 MORTON (child of Edward6, Francis5, Francis4, James3, Francis2, George1); (a.k.a. Poppa, Uncle Bill);[647],[648] born 16 Feb 1913 at Barrie St., Bradford, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada; at his Grandma Stoddart's House;[649],[650] married Marion Pearl Wixson, daughter of Samuel John Wixson and Annie Lucinda Blake, 29 Jun 1935 at St. Paul's church, Runnymede, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where the maid of honour was Miss Marie Love of Thistletown and Rev. Edward Morely presided;[651] died 1 Feb 2000 at Kingston General Hospital, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, at age 86; buried 5 Feb 2000 at Christ Church, Holland Landing, Ontario, Canada, after services at Holy Trinity Church, Thornhill.[652]

From about 1915 to 1919, Bill lived with his Uncle George and Aunts Eliza and Minnie in Bradford. His first memory was of his Aunts preparing a box of goodies for George who was fighting in the Great War in Europe. From now until his first job, Bill would spend his summers with Uncle George and Uncle Clarence (Minnie's brother) at Clarence's farm north of Bradford.[653] In the fall of 1919, Bill arrived home from Uncle Clarence's farm two days late and so missed the orientation for his school - it was very regimented. On his first day he didn't know where to line up, or that you had to march to class. The prinicple helped him out when his class marched off leaving him in the school yard by himself. Bill remembered his mother telling him that, if asked, he was to say she was Dutch, and not of German heritage as was the case.[654] Edward Reginald Morton sent his "nephew" Bill the Boy's Own Annual from England each Christmas.[623] After finishing high school in 1932, and normal school in 1933, Bill began teaching public school. It was at Harwood Public School that he met Marion Wixson (the 'dead bird' story).[654] Between 1934 and 1935, William Edward Hulse Morton lived at 75 Raymond Ave., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[655] Between 1936 and 1937, William Edward Hulse Morton and Marion Pearl Wixson lived at 78 Yarrow Rd., Silverthorn, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, followed by a short stay with Bill's parents on Raymond Ave.[656] Between 1938 and 1940, William Edward Hulse Morton and Marion Pearl Wixson lived at 4 Rutherford Ave., Mount Dennis, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, when Bill transferred to Bala Avenue School.[657] Between 1940 and 1949, William Edward Hulse Morton and Marion Pearl Wixson lived at 75 Raymond Ave., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, renting Bill's parents' house after they had moved back to Bradford. Bill taught high school and coached rugby and track & field at Vaughan Road Collegiate Institute from 1940-1945.[658] While teaching at Vaughan Road Collegiate, Bill coached Bantam Rugby (1941), Senior Rugby, T.D.I.A.A. finalists (1942), restarted the track and field program and won the T.D.I.A.A. championships with Senior Rugby over their arch rival, Runnymead Collegiate Institute (1943). To his students, Bill was known as "Mr. Mort", and "brought back that cherished silverware" as senior rugby coach in 1944.[659],[660],[661] In 1946, Bill joined Noxema Chemical Company of Canada Ltd. and became their Production Manager (1949), Secretary Treasurer (1950) and Vice President and Director by 1952.[662],[663] Between 1950 and 1954, William Edward Hulse Morton and Marion Pearl Wixson lived at Clarkson Rd., Clarkson, Peel Co., Ontario, Canada.[664] Between 1954 and 1956, William Edward Hulse Morton and Marion Pearl Wixson lived at John Street, Bradford, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada, with Uncle George.[665],[666] Between 1956 and 1965, William Edward Hulse Morton and Marion Pearl Wixson lived at 53 Grenview Blvd., Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada.[667] He and Marion Pearl Wixson lived between 1966 and 1967 at #1005, 1139 Royal York Rd, Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada.[668] Between 1966 and 1973, William Edward Hulse Morton and Marion Pearl Wixson also lived at Harbour St., Lefroy, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada, "The Cottage" on lake Simcoe.[669] In 1967, Bill became the Executive Vice-President of Noxema, retiring sometime after 1974.[670] Between 1974 and 1985, William Edward Hulse Morton and Marion Pearl Wixson lived at Con. 11, West Gwillimbury Twp. (Bradford), Ontario, Canada, "The Farm."[671] He and Marion Pearl Wixson lived between 1985 and 1988 at 8111 Yonge St, Thornhill, Ontario, Canada; "The Condo."[672] He lived between 1988 and 1997 at 8111 Yonge St, Thornhill, Ontario, Canada.[672] Between 1990 and 2000, William Edward Hulse Morton also lived at 345 McDonalds Ln, Stella, Amherst Isl, Ontario, Canada.[673] He lived between 1998 and 2000 at 1955 E Steeles Ave, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Gibson Retirement Residence.[672]

27. Mary Teresa Irene7 MORTON (child of Edward6, Francis5, Francis4, James3, Francis2, George1); born May 1914 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada;[691] married Edmund Joseph Walters circa 1940; died from injuries in a car accident 10 Jun 1958 at Toronto Western Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at age 44;[692] buried 13 Jun 1958 at St. George's On-The-Hill, Islington, Ontario, Canada.[693]

She was a stenographer and assistant bookkeeper at W. Lloyd Wood, while living with her parents on Raymond Ave between 1934 and 1939 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[694] She was a stenographer with Noxema Chemical Co in 1940 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[695] In 1958, Mary Teresa Irene Morton and Edmund Joseph Walters lived at 43 Ridgevalley Cres., Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada.[696] Late in the afternoon of 9 Jun 1958, Mary was mortally injured in a car accident on The Kingsway. Police said the front-left tire blew, causing the car to swerve into a head-on collision. Mary died the next day from head injuries.[697]

Edmund Joseph WALTERS was born on 17 Nov 1916.[698],[699] He died on 27 Nov 2015 at The Grenadier Retirement Residence, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at age 99.[700] It was published "Died 10 days after beginning his 100th year, having lived a full life. He was predeceased by his beloved wives, Mary and Gwendolynne. He leaves his beloved daughter and son, Terri and Francis, and his son-in-law, John, and current and former daughters-in-law, Wendy, Cheryl and Kathy, his grandchildren, Melanie, Mary, Christian, Alice, Bradley and Andrew, and his great grandchildren, Noah, Jocelyn, Elora, Jaclyn, Juliette and Skylar.

Dad was appointed a Barrister-at-Law in 1942, and served as a lawyer with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCNVR) until 1945. He married Mary Irene Morton during the war.

While Dad articled, Mary supported them by working directly with the President of Noxzema (Canada). She left Noxema to care for her children and home, and to help Dad advance in his profession, while at the same time continuing to be very active in the community, holding various executive positions with the IODE, Queensway Hospital, and Red Feather (United Way).

In 1957, Dad was appointed a Q.C., one of "Our Counsel learned in the law for the Province of Ontario" by Queen Elizabeth.

In 1958, his beloved wife, Mary, died in a car accident; in 1959, he married M. Gwendolynne Danks, who brought a son, Paul, to the marriage. Paul died in 2002; Gwen, in 2003.

For fifty years Dad enjoyed summer sojourns with his family in Muskoka, first on Muldrew Lake near Gravenhurst, then on Lake Joseph near Port Carling.

After a distinguished career with the law firm of Andersen, Sinclair, Walters, Dad retired in his seventies to Malaga, Spain. He learned Spanish and built three homes along the Costa del Sol, the last of which in El Palo had a wonderful view of the Mediterranean. He was very active in Malaga"s oldest Anglican Church, St. George"s, turning his hand to renovation and fundraising whenever needed.

Dad was all his life an accomplished pianist of classical music. His children remember many an evening falling to sleep to Clair de Lune. Whether on his Heintzman Baby Grand in Toronto, or his Playel upright in Spain, he found great relaxation and enjoyment in his music, often extempore composing at his piano.

Dad was always enthusiastically engaged by any social or professional activity in which he was involved. Just four weeks before his death, he could be seen with his caregiver and walker heading to High Park, a favourite destination all his life, where he had often taken his children to see the Zoo. He remembered sledding and skating in High Park as a boy from nearby Dunn Avenue, where he lived with his parents, Walter and Josephine, and brother Dick.

After living well for thirty years in Spain, Dad came home in 2010 to be near his family. He ended his days at The Grenadier Retirement Home. We cannot thank enough the wonderful staff at The Grenadier for all the continuously kind and patient attention they gave him.

After a massive heart attack on Nov. 1, Dad nonetheless celebrated his 99th birthday on Nov. 17 in St. Joseph"s Hospital, where he received excellent care."[701]
